Winnipeg Police Service News Release

SHOTS FIRED                                                   C12-28372
On February 15th, 2012 at approximately 10:45 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Division 13 Uniform Members responded to a residence within the 600 block of Alfred Avenue for a report of shots fired. 
 
Upon arrival officers confirmed a number of shots had been fired and that the front of the residence had sustained damage. Two adult males and one adult female who were within the residence at the time were not injured.  
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.

STRONG-ARM ROBBERIES- ARRESTS          C12-28245
On February 15th, 2012 at approximately 6:50 p.m. an 18 year old female victim was in the area of Portage Avenue and Donald Street when she was approached from behind by two female suspects who attempted to take her purse. This was observed by passers-by who interrupted the robbery and notified officers. Nothing was stolen from the victim. 
 
Patrolling Division 11 Community Support Unit members located the suspects in the area of Fort Street and Portage Avenue where they were taken into custody without incident. 
 
Division 11 Crime Unit members continued with the investigation which has revealed the same two suspects to be responsible for the following incidents on the same date: 
 
-       At approximately 3:40 p.m. in the area of the 700 block of Aberdeen Street a 14 year old female victim, who was not injured, was robbed out of her purse valued at approximately $200.00. 
 
-       At approximately 4:25 p.m. a 19 year old female victim was in the area of Main Street and McDermot Avenue where she was approached by two suspects who grabbed her purse.  A struggle ensued and the victim was punched about the upper body. The suspects attempted to flee with the purse however an unknown male intervened and returned the victim's property to the victim. The suspects then fled the area prior to police arrival.  

- During the evening hours both suspects attended to a retail clothing store within a mall in the 300 block of Portage Avenue where merchandise, valued at approximately $60.00 was stolen.
 
Crystal Marie GENAILLE, 20 years and Nicole Marie LAGIMODIERE, 26 years, both from Winnipeg have been charged with three counts of Robbery and one count of Theft Under for their alleged involvement in these incidents. LAGIMODIERE has also been charged with breach of probation.
 
Both females have been detained in custody.
