Update - Suspicious Person – Arrest - C14-174531
As previously released, on August 17, 2014 shortly after 1:30 p.m. the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of a suspicious male in the area of Central Park.
 
Officers met with the complainant who advised that at approximately 12:30 p.m. she and her five year old son had been at the park.  It was at this time that an unknown male attempted to lure her son away.  A lifeguard intervened and the male left the area.  Her son was not injured.
 
The male was described as: Black, approximately 25 years of age, 5'6" - 5'7" tall with a slim build.  He was wearing red hooded jacket, green shorts, gold necklace and was carrying a green & black Thomas Engine backpack.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit and a suspect was identified.
 
On August 19, 2014 investigators located and arrested the 23 year-old suspect without incident.
 
Tyrone Olawemi Abdul TIJANI-MAZUR of Winnipeghas been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
 
Abduction of Person Under Fourteen Years of Age
Possession of a Scheduled Substance – Cannabis Resin
Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Fail to Comply Condition Undertaking by Officer in Charge
 
He was remanded into custody.
