Body Recovered Update - Homicide – C14-174517
As previously reported, on August 17, 2014 at approximately 1:30 p.m. a body was recovered from the Red River in the area of the Alexander Docks.
 
At this time the identity of the female is unknown and an autopsy is pending.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.
 
 
Body Recovered – C14-174740
On August 17, 2014 shortly before 7:30 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Kildonan Park for the report of a body in the Red River.
 
The body of an adult male was recovered.  The identity of the male has not yet been confirmed and an autopsy is pending.
 
At this time it is unknown if this is the same male who was reported in the river on the afternoon of August 15 (C14-172903).
 
The investigation is continuing.
 
 
Suspicious Person – C14-174531
On August 17, 2014 shortly after 1:30 p.m. the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of a suspicious male in the area of Central Park.
 
Officers met with the complainant who advised that at approximately 12:30 p.m. she and her five year old son had been at the park.  It was at this time that an unknown male attempted to lure her son away.  A lifeguard intervened and the male left the area.  Her son was not injured.
 
The male is described as: Black, approximately 25 years of age, 5'6" - 5'7" tall with a slim build.  He was wearing red hooded jacket, green shorts, gold necklace and was carrying a green & black Thomas Engine backpack.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6668 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
