Male In River – C14-172903
On August 15, 2014 shortly after 2:00 p.m. an off-duty Winnipeg Police Officer was in the area of the Provencher Bridge when he observed a male in the river who appeared to be in distress. 
 
The officer was able to get the attention of a nearby water taxi and direct those on board to the male's location.  Their attempts to assist the male were unsuccessful.
 
The male has not been recovered and members of the Dive Unit are currently on scene.
 
During this incident one of the people on the water taxi suffered a medical emergency which required transport to hospital.  His condition is unknown.
