Crime Prevention Tip  Reduced Speeds in School Zones In June of 2014 the City of Winnipeg Standing Policy Committee on Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works voted in favour of reducing speed limits in the area of elementary schools.   Starting the week of September 1, 2014 new reduced speeds in school zones will come into effect.   Signs have been posted in the areas around 171 Winnipeg schools.   Enforcement of these new reduced speed zones, in compliance with the Reduced-Speed School Zone Regulation found in the Manitoba Highway Traffic Act, will coincide with the beginning of the school year.  Both traditional and photo enforcement will be utilized to ensure the safety of our children.
