Grow Operations Arrests – R14-52165
As a result of recent investigations, members of the Marihuana Grow Operation Unit obtained Controlled Drugs & Substances Act (CDSA) search warrants for two residences within the city.
 
On August 6, 2014 the first warrant was executed in the 1st 100 block of Burnhill Bay.  The lone male occupant was arrested without incident.

A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • 1006 Marihuana plants with an estimated street value of $1,126,720.00
  • 100 grams of dry marihuana with an estimated street value of $1,000.00
  • Grow operation equipment valued at $22,000.00

Later the same day the second warrant was executed in the 100 block of Southbridge Drive.  No one was located inside.
 
A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • 1075 Marihuana plants with an estimated street value of $1,204,000.00
  • 109 grams of dry marihuana with an estimated street value of $1,090.00
  • Grow operation equipment valued at $23,000.00

In both incidents investigators observed that the theft of both Hydro and Water was occurring.
 
For his alleged involvement, a 43-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing charges of Produce a Scheduled Substance – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA), Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA) and Theft of Telecommunications – Over $5000 x 2.
 
He was released via a Promise to Appear.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Marihuana Grow Operation Unit and on August 7 two suspects from the Southbridge incident were located and arrested without incident.
 
A 52-year-old male and 49-year-old female, both of Winnipeg are each facing charges of Produce a Scheduled Substance – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA), Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA) and Theft of Telecommunications – Over $5000 x 2 for their alleged involvement.
 
Both were released via Promises to Appear.
