WINNIPEG POLICE SERVICE COMMUNITY CHALLENGE GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Winnipeg Police Service is holding its 4th Annual Community Challenge Fundraising Golf Tournament on Wednesday, September 11th, 2013 at the Rossmere Country Club in Winnipeg.

The event is in support of the Inner City Youth Scholarship Fund, which provides Inner City Youth the opportunity to pursue post-secondary education at the University of Winnipeg.  This event, along with the Winnipeg Police Service / Boston Pizza "Tip a Cop" event has raised over $80,000.00.

As this year's tournament falls on the 12th anniversary of 9/11, at 12:00 p.m. a ceremony will be held to remember those affected by the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

As part of the ceremony a Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) CC-130 Hercules from 17 Wing Winnipeg will be conducting a low level flyby.

The CC-130 Hercules will fly at an altitude no lower than 500 feet above the highest point before resuming a higher flying altitude for the return trip to 17 Wing Winnipeg.

Flybys by CAF aircraft are carefully planned and closely controlled to ensure public safety at all times.
