COMMERCIAL ROBBERIES- ARREST                C13-187018

On Saturday, September 14, 2013 at approximately 8:15 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to gas station within the 1200 block of Portage Avenue for a report of a commercial robbery by a male suspect who was armed with a knife. The suspect demanded and received an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the store.    
 
Then at approximately 10:40 a.m. a gas station within the 1100 block of St. Mary's Road was robbed by suspect male, who had his identity disguised.  The suspect male demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash. 
 
Shortly after 3:30 p.m. police were dispatched to a grocery store within the 800 block of Talbot Avenue for a report of disguised male suspect who had attempted to rob the store of cigarettes and cash.  When the clerk refused to open the till the suspect fled the store and was confronted by the clerk outside the store.  This confrontation was witnessed by a passing motorist who observed the suspect enter a sport utility vehicle and police were notified. 
 
Then at approximately 4:00 p.m. a lone suspect male with his identity disguised attended to a gas station within the 700 block of Watt Street.  The suspect demanded and received cigarettes and cash before fleeing the store. 
 
There were no injuries during these incidents.
 
At approximately 11:30 p.m. officers located the sport utility vehicle involved in the convenience store robbery on a front street within the 400 block of Regent Avenue.  Members of the Major Crimes Unit, the Tactical Support Unit, and Air1 assisted and shortly after 2:00 a.m. the suspect male exited a residence and was taken into custody without incident. 
 
As a result of his alleged involvement, Gregory Gerald RHEAULT, 35 years of Winnipeg
is facing four counts of Robbery and Wear a Disguise.  He has been detained in custody.   
 
 
VEHICLE ROBBERY                              C13- 187791
On September 15, 2013 shortly after 8:40 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members received a report of a vehicle robbery that had occurred in the area of Kildare Avenue and Winona Street between 3:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.

Officers met with the 33 year old male victim, who was not injured, and learned thathe was traveling in his vehicle, a 2012 Blue Mazda3, west bound on Kildare Avenue.  As the victim slowed down for the four way stop sign near Winona Street, an unknown suspect male jumped in front of his vehicle and a second male suspect immediately entered the rear passenger door.  The first suspect proceeded to enter the vehicle through the driver's side door and forced the victim into the passenger seat.   

The suspects who indicated that they had a firearm, proceeded to drive the victim through the south end of the City, before briefly stopping near the intersection of Fermor Boulevard and St. Mary's Road.  Once stopped, the suspect driving the vehicle threatened the victim and demanded cash from him. 

The suspects drove the victim to a bank within the 1100 block of Pembina Highway where he withdrew money from the bank machine and turned it over to the suspect.  The victim immediately fled from the vehicle to another passing vehicle and the suspects fled the area.

The stolen vehicle has not yet been recovered.  It is described as:  2012, Blue, Mazda3 GS Sky.  Manitoba Plate: GTX 310

 


 
The suspects are described as:

Suspect OneMale, Aboriginal, approximately 26 to 30 years of age, approximately 5'10" tall, with a heavy build, a shaved head and numerous tattoos on both arms.  He was wearing a baseball hat, t-shirt and sandals.

Suspect Two: Male, Aboriginal, approximately 26 to 30 years of age, approximately 6'2"-6'3" with a skinny build and short black hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt, a sweater and dark pants.
