RESIDENTIAL BREAK& ENTER ARRESTS – C13-184320
On Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at approximately 4:00 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 500 block of Stella Avenue for the report of a break & enter.
 
Attending officers met with the homeowner who advised that two males had been tormenting his dogs that were within his fenced yard and that one of the males pepper sprayed them.  A verbal altercation between the dog owner and the males resulted in the suspects forcing their way into the home and pepper spraying the owner.  The suspects then fled on foot.
 
Members of the Canine Unit tracked the two suspects to the area of Main Street and Dufferin Avenue where they were taken into custody without incident.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit.  The following two males have been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre due to their alleged involvement.
 
Dyson Irvin Lawrence SUMNER 18 years of Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Break, Enter dwelling house
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
  • Cruelty to Animals
  • Failure to comply with sentence

Brian William GEORGE 26 years of Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Break, Enter dwelling house
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
  • Cruelty to Animals

 
MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION – C13-184434
On Wednesday, September 11, 2013 shortly before 9:00 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Westminster Avenue and Langside Street for the report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
 
Responding members located a 10 year old male who had been struck by a vehicle.  The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition where he remains at this time.
 
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim had been crossing Langside Street, westbound when he was struck by the vehicle travelling southbound on Langside.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Unit.  Anyone with information regarding this incident who has not yet spoken with Police is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6271or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
DRUG INVESTIGATION – ARREST - C13-184371
As a result of a lengthy drug investigation, on September 11, 2013 members of the District 3 Crime Unit, with the assistance of Community Support, Uniform Patrol and members of the Tactical Support Team executed both Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) & Criminal Code search warrants at a residence in the 800 block of Aberdeen Avenue.
 
After searching the residence, the following items were located and seized by officers:

  • 18 ¼ gram rocks of crack cocaine
  • Several assorted pills in unmarked pill bottles
  • 2 ½ morphine pills (found on HANUSCHUK)
  • $120 in Canadian currency
  • 6 cell phones
  • Assorted stolen goods
  • Butterfly knife

Officers arrested a female present in the residence at the time of the warrant execution.
 
Susan Jay HANUSCHUK 50 years of Winnipeg has been charged with several drug, weapon and property related offences for her alleged involvement.  She was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
