COPS FOR KIDS BICYCLE RELAY
 

On Monday, September 9, 2013, the Winnipeg Police Service"Cops for Kids"Bicycle Relay team will mark their 10th bi-annual tour to raise awareness and funds for the Manitoba Chapter of the Children's Wish Foundation.

More than 260,000 kilometres have been cycled and over $1,000,000 has been raised since its inception.
 

This year, the 16 member team, including Chief of Police, Devon Clunis, Inspectors, Sergeants, Patrol Sergeants and Constables, will be riding west for the second time raising funds to grant wishes for some special children. The team will be cycling 2579 kilometres around the clock from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Tofino, British Columbia.

The"Cops for Kids"team was formed in 1995 and has been cycling all over North-America every second year since.  The team, having five original members have cycled thousands of kilometres during previous tours to destinations like: Vancouver, Halifax, Mexico, San Diego, New York, Florida and San Francisco. 

The vision shared by Children's Wish and all members of the team, is to have every child, enjoy the best quality of life possible including the experience of laughter, shared joy and treasured memories with important people in their lives. 

This year's ride has been named "West for Wishes" and will commence at the City Hall Courtyard on September 9th and will conclude on September 13th in Tofino, B.C.
 
Members of the public and media are invited to join and support team members at the City Hall Courtyard prior to their departure on September 9th at 7:30 a.m.
 
For over 25 years, The Children's Wish Foundation has granted the most heartfelt wishes of children suffering from high risk life threatening conditions.
 
This year has extra special meaning for team coordinator, Darrell Hees, as his 7 year daughter Amara had heart surgery when she was three months old and will be granted a wish.
