SEARCH WARRANT ARRESTS – C13-190698
As a result of an on-going investigation, on September 19, 2013 at approximately 3:30 a.m., investigators from the Street Crime Unit, with the assistance of members of the Tactical Support Team executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant and Firearms search warrant at a residence within the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue.
 
A male who exited the residence prior to the warrant being executed and a second male located within the residence at the time of warrant execution were arrested without incident.
 
As a result of the search the following items were seized:

  • .410 break action shotgun
  • Bolt Action 7mm rifle
  • Colt .45 calibre semi-automatic handgun
  • Ammunition
  • 130 Tylenol 3 pills
  • Various prescription medications
  • $270.00 in Canadian currency

Howard John TURK 51 years & Kelly Grant TEMCHUK 57 years both of Winnipeg have been detained in custody at the Provincial Remand Centre and charged with the following offences due to their alleged involvement:

  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x 3
  • Breach of Firearms Regulations x 3
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ammunition
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 3
  • Possessing substance for Purpose of Trafficking - OTHER
  • Possess Proceeds of Crime (TURK only)


GROW OPERATION ARREST – R13-64865
On Thursday, September 19, 2013 members of the Marihuana Grow Operation Unit with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, Uniform Members and Street Crimes Unit executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) Search Warrant at a residence in the 2000 block of Gallagher Avenue.
 
An adult male was located within the residence and taken into custody without incident.
 
As a result of the search the following was seized:

  • 285 Marihuana plants with an estimated street value of $319,200.00
  • 6.5 pounds of packaged marihuana with an estimated street value of $16,250.00
  • Grow operation equipment valued at $10,000.00
  • $660.00 in Canadian currency

A 38 year old male from Winnipeg is facing charges of:

  • Production of controlled substance – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA)
  • Possessing substance for purpose of trafficking – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA)
  • Possess Proceeds of Crime (CDSA)

He was released via a Promise to Appear.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – C13-191547
On Thursday, September 19, 2013 at approximately 10:15 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to a restaurant in the 1800 block of Grant Avenue for the report of a commercial robbery.
 
Attending officers met with the clerk who advised that a lone male, with his identity concealed and armed with a weapon had demanded and received an undisclosed amount of money after which he fled the store.
The clerk was not injured.
 
The suspect is described as: Caucasian, 5'10" tall.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION – C13-191641
On Friday, September 20, 2013 shortly after 4:00 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 100 block of Robinson Street for the report of an assault.
 
Attending members located two adult male victims.  One was transported to hospital in stable condition.  The second male was transported in critical condition and has since succumbed to his injuries.
 
No further information is available at this time.
