SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION C13-185798
On September 12, 2013 at approximately 9:50 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of McPhillips Street and Machray Avenue regarding a serious collision involving a motorcycle and cyclist.
 
The investigation has revealed that a Triumph motorcycle was being operated by a 32 year old male northbound on McPhillips Street. In the area of the intersection, the driver of the motorcycle collided with the cyclist.
 
The driver of the motorcycle was ejected which resulted in serious injuries. He is in critical condition.  
 
The cyclist, a 23 year old male sustained non-life threatening injuries.
 
Both speed and alcohol are being investigated as factors in the collision.
 
Members of the Central Traffic Unit continue to investigate.

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C13-184517
On September 10, 2013 at approximately 3:30 p.m., a male suspect attended to a supermarket located in the 100 block of Powers Street and confronted two adult male employees.
 
The armed suspect demand cash however fled empty handed.
 
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
 
The suspect is described as: Male, Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 25 years-old.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident or further details about the suspect is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
ROBBERY – ARRESTS C13-185077
On September 11, 2013 just after midnight, a 29 year old male was approached while in the area of the 800 block of Main Street by an unknown female when the two agreed to become involved in a drug transaction.
 
The female received an undisclosed amount of cash from the male for the purpose of purchasing marihuana. The female left the area at which time the male became suspicious of her intentions.
 
The unsuspecting male victim was then approached by two males associated to the female. The males agreed to assist in locating the female in the area of the 200 block of Austin Street. It was at this time the two males began assaulting the male victim and robbing him of his property.
 
District 3 Patrol members responded, located and arrested all three suspects still in the area. A portion of the victim's property was recovered.
 
District 3 Crime Unit members continued with the investigation.
 
A 34 year-old female, 32 year-old Kelly OBRIEN and 25 year-old Derek PENNY have been charged with Robbery due to their alleged involvement. The two males have also been charged with several Breach of Probation and Failure to Comply with Condition of a Recognizance.
 
The males were detained and the female was released on a Promise to Appear.
