Sunday, September 15, 2013 THEFT OF FIREARMS INVESTIGATION ARREST R13-63924 On September 9, 2013, the Winnipeg Police Service received a report that a vehicle had been broken into while parked in the area of the 100 block of Smith Street. As a result of the break-in to the vehicle, two rifles were stolen. Division 11 Detectives continued to investigate and as a result, a male suspect was identified. The investigation revealed that the firearms had been sold by the suspect. Officers located and arrested the suspect on September 14, 2013 at approximately 8:40 p.m. in the area of the 200 block of Main Street. Officers have recovered the stolen rifles. Douglas LANGAN, 49 years-oldhas been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement: Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x 4 Possession of Firearm while Prohibited x 2 Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x 4 Possession of Weapon Obtained by Crime x 2 Possession of Firearm, Weapon, Device or Ammunition for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2 Theft under $5000.00 x 2 Break, Enter a Place Possession Break in Instruments Fail to Comply with Condition Recognizance x 3 He was detained. MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION IMPAIRED DRIVING ARREST C13-187533 On September 14, 2013 at approximately 10:25 p.m., a member of the Winnipeg Police Service Canine Unit observed a Toyota Camry being operated erratically while in the area of Jefferson Avenue and Sheppard Street. Additional Patrol members were deployed and attempts to stop the suspect vehicle safely were made, however the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed having no regard for public safety. The investigation has revealed that the driver of the suspect vehicle was observed to disobey numerous traffic control devices in the area. The suspect vehicle ultimately collided with a Nissan Altima at the intersection of Maberley Road and Mapleglen Drive. After the initial impact, the Nissan Altima came to a stop after colliding with a residence located in the 100 block of Mapleglen Drive. As a result of the collision, an 18 year-old female passenger in the suspect vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries. The 27 year-old male driver of the Nissan Altima and the male suspect are in stable condition. Brandon LINSANGAN, 19 years-old (Toyota Camry) has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement: Impaired Driving Cause Bodily Harm x 2 Impaired Driving Flight from Police Officer Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm x 2 Possessing Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (HTA) Drive while Disqualified He was detained. Members of the Central Traffic Unit continue to investigate.
