STOLEN VEHICLE – ARREST C13-189181
On September 17, 2013 at approximately 4:40 a.m., Patrol and Canine Unit members observed a stolen 2012 red Ford pick-up truck being operated in the area of Portage Avenue and Ferry Road.
 
A brief pursuit occurred, however it was aborted due to the unsafe manner of driving by the suspect.
 
A short time later, the vehicle was observed again, now travelling in the East/North Kildonan areas of the city at a high rate of speed.
 
At approximately 5:13 a.m., officers successfully deployed tire deflation devices in the area of the 4000 block of Henderson Highway.
 
The vehicle was stopped and a 50 year-old male was taken into custody. He is facing numerous charges in relation to the stolen vehicle, his manner of driving and aggressive behaviour with officers.
 
The investigation is continuing.
 
 
SERIOUS SEXUAL ASSAULT C13-188626
On September 16, 2013 at approximately 12:54 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Sutherland Avenue regarding a serious sexual assault that occurred involving a 29 year-old female victim.
 
The investigation has revealed that the victim had observed an unknown male following her while in the area of Main Street and Sutherland Avenue. The suspect eventually approached the victim asking for change. As she was retrieving change from her purse, the armed suspect grabbed the victim forcing her toward a nearby building. It was at this time a serious sexual assault occurred.
 
The suspect is described as:
 
Male, Caucasian, 40 years-old, heavy build, 5'9" tall, 200 lbs., shaved bald head, pointy nose, and what appears to be a burn mark (circular scar) to the right area of his chest, possible from a cigarette. He was wearing prescription sunglasses.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident or the suspect is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6245 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
SEXUAL ASSAULT C13-186700
On September 15, 2013, it was reported that a 17 year old female victim was sexually assaulted while in the area of Main Street and James Avenue on September 13th at approximately 10:00 p.m.
 
The investigation has revealed that the victim was confronted while waiting in the area and groped by an unknown male. The victim demanded that he stop at which time the suspect threatened to harm her with a weapon.
 
The suspect fled as other people attended to the area.    
 
The suspect is described as:
 
Male, Aboriginal in appearance, 40-50 years of age, 5'9" tall, slim build, short hair and clean shaven.
