Winnipeg Police Service News Release

 

  Monday, June 13th, 2011 

 
POSSESS WEAPON- ARREST             C11-121729
On June 12th, 2011 at approximately 7:15 p.m., Winnipeg Police Service Airport Unit Officers responded to the groundside entrance area of the James Armstrong Richardson International Airport terminal building, for a report of a male that was seen carrying a knife. 
 
When officers arrived they observed a suspect male waving a folding knife in the air. As numerous persons were within the immediate area, officers acted quickly and verbally directed the male to put the knife down. 
 
After several minutes of officer's verbal commands to drop the knife, the male relinquished the knife and he was taken into custody without incident. 
 
Joshua HAERLE, 19 years, from Missouri, United States of America, has been charged with Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose for his alleged involvement into this incident. 
 
HAERLE has been detained in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
 
 
ASSAULT WITH WEAPON- ARRESTS     C11-121355
On Saturday, June 11th, 2011 at approximately 5:45 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Division 11 Members, along with Emergency Services Responders received a call to a residence within the 400 block of Agnes Street for a report of a male that had been assaulted. 
 
Upon arrival officers located a 35 year old male victim suffering from upper body injuries.  There was also evidence of a nearby residence and vehicle that had been damaged.
 
Paramedics transported the victim to the hospital in stable condition. 
 
Patrolling members searched the area and arrested a 27 year old male in the area of the 500 block of Agnes Street following a brief foot chase.
 
As a result of the continued investigation, the second suspect was arrested in an apartment building within the 200 block of Dufferin Avenue. 
 
Jason Arthur COUTU, 27 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement into this incident; 

    - Mischief under $5000
     -  Aggravated Assault
     -  Fail to comply with condition of undertaking
 
An 18 year old male from Winnipeg has been charged with; 
 
-          Aggravated assault
-          Mischief under $5000
-          Breach of probation
-          Fail to comply with conditions of sentence order
 
 
ROBBERY WITH FIREARM- ARREST       C11-120875
On Saturday June 11th, 2011 just after 7:30 p.m. a 36 year old male and two females, aged 26 and 34 years, were walking in the area of Andrews Street and Burrows Avenue when they were approached by a lone male suspect.  This suspect male pulled out a firearm that had been concealed and demanded the victims turn over a case of beer. 
 
The victims complied with the suspects demands and turned over the property.   Patrolling members of the Street Crime Unit were flagged down by the victims and immediately began searching the area. 
 
Officers located and arrested the suspect male in a yard within the 500 block of Burrows Avenue without incident.  
 
Aaron Vaughn MURDOCK, 24 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement into this incident;
 
- Robbery with a firearm x 3
- Use firearm in commission of offence
- Possess weapon for dangerous purpose
- Point firearm
- Carry concealed weapon
- Possess firearm while prohibited
 
MURDOCK has been detained in custody.
