Winnipeg Police Service News Release

CDSA SEARCH WARRANT- ARRESTS C11-63001
On Thursday, March 31st, 2011 at approximately 10:00 p.m. Division 13 Members executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of Garwood Avenue.  Within the residence was a multi-stage cannabis marihuana grow operation.  The Winnipeg Police Service Drug Unit assisted and the following has been seized:
 
Approximately 60 Cannabis Marihuana plants- estimated value $67,200.00
Assorted Grow Operation equipment valued at $1000.00
 
A 33 year old female and a 43 year old male have been arrested and are facing the following charges:  
 
- Possessing substance for purposes of trafficking - CANNABIS (MARIHUANA)
- Fail to Comply Conditions Undertaking
 
They have been released on a promise to appear. 
 
 
RESIDENTIAL BREAK AND ENTER- ARRESTS               C11-62435
On Thursday, March 31st, 2011 at approximately 3:15 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Members responded to a residence within the 300 block of Flora Avenue for a report of a residential break and enter that had just occurred. 
 
Officers learned that a number of suspects had attended to the residence and knocked on the door.  When the homeowner answered the door the group forced their way into the residence.  Once inside, the suspects produced knives and threatened an occupant before removing a large television. 
 
Police were contacted and the suspects fled the residence prior to officer's arrival. 
 
Air 1 and a police canine unit attended and assisted Uniform Officers.  Within minutes, the canine unit successfully tracked the suspects to a residence within the 300 block of Pritchard Avenue, where four suspects were arrested without incident.  
 
As a result of the continued investigation by the Division 13 Detectives 
two females aged 15 and 17 years will be facing the following charges:
 
- Break, Enter dwelling house - commit indictable offence
- Robbery with weapon
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
 
Two males, 15 and 16 years have been charged with:
 
- Failure to comply with sentence (15 year old youth)
- Disguise with Intent (16 year old youth)
- Robbery with weapon
- Break, Enter dwelling house - commit indictable offence
 
Both males have been detained in at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
