WPS HALF MARATHON – WIN A CUSTOM ELECTRIC GUITAR
On Sunday, May 1, 2011, the 7th annual WPS Half Marathon will be taking place. Since its inception 6 yeas ago, this event has raised over $520,000 on behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society. The race has sold out every year since the beginning, and this year was no exception with all 1900 spots for the half marathon and all 325 2-person relay spots selling out months in advance.

This year's race will have some added excitement to the Awards ceremony on May 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., as we'll be drawing for the winner of a custom made, electric guitar, signed by the legendary Randy Bachman. The guitar also comes with a quality guitar strap from Levy Leathers and 4 free guitar lessons hosted at the studios of Long & McQuade.

Ecole Selkirk Jr. High – 516 Stanley Avenue, Selkirk, Manitoba have developed a great woodworking curriculum whereby they custom make electric guitars. As a result, they have created and donated a one of a kind WPS Half Marathon guitar to help with our fundraising efforts. We've printed 2500 raffle tickets and are selling them for only $2.00 each. Anyone interested, may purchase tickets from the Canadian Cancer Society – 193 Sherbrook St., Monday – Friday – between 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The guitar has returned from its journey to Salt Spring Island, BC, where it was signed by Randy Bachman. Principal Wayne Davies has advised that the students have applied the finishing touches and are looking forward to showing off the guitar and turning it over to the WPS Half Marathon Committee.
