Winnipeg Police Service News Release

COMMERCIAL ROBBERIES- ARRESTS             C11-67581
On April 6th, 2011 at approximately 10:00 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service members responded to a gas bar in the area of Bishop Grandin Boulevard and Island Shore Boulevard for a report of a commercial robbery that had just occurred. 
 
Information received was that two male suspects who had their faces concealed, and one armed with a knife, approached the clerk and demanded cash and cigarettes.  The pair received cigarettes and cash and fled in a vehicle. 
 
Within minutes, patrolling East District Uniform members observed the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Lagimodiere Boulevard and Bishop Grandin Boulevard, where it was stopped and the two male occupants were arrested without incident. 
 
As a result of a continued investigation by members of the Major Crimes Unit, these suspects have also been arrested for the following commercial robberies:
 
- March 9th, 2011 a convenience store within the 500 block of London Avenue 
- March 9th, 2011 a restaurant within the 100 block of St Anne's Road
- March 9th, 2011 a restaurant within the 300 block of Provencher Boulevard
- April 5th, 2011 a gas bar within the 1900 block of St Mary's Road
 
The 20 year old male suspect has been arrested for the following two commercial robberies:
 
- March 4th, 2011 a gas bar within the 100 block of St Anne's Road
- March 7th, 2011 a restaurant within the 800 block of McLeod Avenue
 
In each of the above robberies, the suspect males while armed, approached the clerks and demanded and received cash and/ or cigarettes.  There were no reported injuries to any of the clerks.
 
Aaron William ROBINSON, 20 years of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement into these incidents:
 
- Robbery x 7
- Disguise with Intent x 4
- Breach of Probation x 2
 
Trevor James MEMKA, 18 years of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement: 
 
- Robbery x 5
Disguise with Intent x 4
- Breach of Probation
 
Both males have been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
