Friday, May 2, 2014 Attempt Murder Arrests C14-85514 During the early morning hours of April 28, 2014, several people were present at a suite located in the 600 block of Maryland Avenue for a small party. It was during this social gathering, two males began harassing another male present. The victim, a 19 year-old male was then assaulted over an extended period of time with numerous weapons causing multiple serious injuries. He was threatened further should he attempt to flee the suite. The 19 year-old male was then robbed of his property and restrained by the two suspects. The victim was eventually left alone in the suite and was able to break free. He managed to walk out to the street where a Winnipeg Police Service Patrol Unit was flagged down. Members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service transported the male to hospital. He has been upgraded to stable condition. Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued to investigate. On April 30, 2014, Timothy HASTINGS, 24 years-old was arrested and charged with the following due to his alleged involvement: Attempt to Commit Murder Forcible Confinement x 2 Uttering Threats Assault Robbery x 3 Assault with a Weapon x 8 Possession of a Weapon x 8 On April 30, 2014, Nicholas JEWELS, 20 years-old was arrested and charged with the following due to his alleged involvement: Attempt to Commit Murder Forcible Confinement x 2 Uttering Threats Assault Robbery x 3 Assault with a Weapon x 8 Possession of a Weapon x 8 Fail to Comply with Probation Order Both were remanded into custody. Motor Vehicle Collision Public Assistance Required - C14-74447 As previously released -On April 13, 2014 shortly after 2:00 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Bishop Grandin Boulevard and St. Anne's Road regarding a serious motor vehicle collision. At this stage of the investigation, it appears that a Chevrolet Cobalt was travelling westbound on Bishop Grandin Boulevard approaching St. Anne's Road, when the driver proceeded to turn southbound from a non-turning lane. While doing so, the Cobalt collided with a Hyundai Genesis travelling eastbound on Bishop Grandin Boulevard. The two female occupants in the Genesis were transported to hospital in stable condition. The male occupant in the Cobalt was initially listed in critical condition. He has been upgraded to stable. Due to the seriousness of the collision, road closures were put into effect. Members of the Traffic Collision Investigation Section continue to investigate.
