Arson Investigation  C14-102330

On May 19, 2014 at approximately 8:45 a.m. emergency services personnel responded to the reports of a working residential fire within the 100 block of Jefferson Avenue. 
 
Upon arrival, two adjacent residences were fully engulfed in fire, and the fire was spreading to the residences on either side.
 
Emergency responders confirmed that all occupants had been evacuated from the involved houses and no one was injured.   
 
The cause of the fire has been determined to be a set fire within a house under construction. 
 
Damage estimates to the four residences is valued at $400,000.

Male Shot Investigation- Arrests C14-102988
On May 20, 2014 shortly after 3:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Members responded to the report of shots fired in the area of Broadway and Young Street.
 
Upon arrival officers learned the incident had occurred at a residence within the 200 block of Young Street. Once at this location officers located two injured males.  A 21-year-old male victim sustained a non-life-threatening upper body injury, consistent with being shot, while a 35-year-old male had been sprayed with bear spray.
 
Responding units observed a suspect vehicle fleeing the area and a traffic pursuit was initiated. The suspect vehicle, a Dodge Caravan, eventually lost control and collided near the intersection of Centennial Street and Academy Road.  The suspects immediately fled from the vehicle and foot chase ensued, resulting in three males taken into custody.
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
