WINNIPEG POLICE SERVICE 10TH ANNUAL HALF MARATHON AND TWO-PERSON RELAY IN SUPPORT OF COPS FOR CANCER
 
In honour of the 10th anniversary, we are attempting to march to a million by breaking the 1 million dollar mark for money raised over the last decade in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.
 
Approximately 2900 runners will be racing. The event is scheduled to start at 8:00 am just east of the footbridge (Assiniboine Park) with a second wave starting at 8:30 am. All runners will get an exciting start with a fly-by of a Canadian Forces C130 Hercules aircraft.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service's helicopter, AIR1 will be on site at the Assiniboine Park for public viewing.
 
Members of the public are invited to cheer runners on along the route or at the finish line. Supporters are welcome to join in the pancake breakfast at the race site by donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.   
 
1st leg:  Runners will head east from the start line then south through the park on Locomotive Dr and Formal Garden Way to make their way out of the Park.  The runners will then proceed north on Park Blvd N then east on Wellington Cr (in the west bound lanes) to Oxford St (turn-around point) where they will return west on Wellington Cr and then north over the train footbridge at Empress St; continue west on the north side of the river on Wolseley Av W, under Route 90 overpass to Riverbend Cr, Assiniboine Av; north on Douglas Park Rd then west on Portage in the east bound traffic curb lane.  Relay exchange is set up in the vicinity of Portage Av and Overdale St.
 
2nd leg:  Runners will continue west on Portage Av to Olive St where they will utilize the footpath system to head onto Roblin Blvd to Oakdale Dr (turn-around point) and back to the north side of the Assiniboine River via the Charleswood Pkwy where the runners will make a loop through Woodhaven (west on Portage Av in the east bound traffic curb lane; south on Woodhaven Blvd; east on Assiniboine Av, north on Woodbridge Rd, east on Assiniboine Cr to Portage Av) prior to returning east on Portage Av to the Assiniboine Park footpath where they will proceed south over the footpath to the finish line located at the Duck Pond.

Traffic notes include:
 
·     West bound Wellington Cr from Oxford St to the Assiniboine Park is closed from 6:00 am until 11:00 am (No parking on the closed portions of Wellington Cr)
 
·     North bound Park Bv N to Wellington Cr is closed from 6:00 am until 11:00 am (no parking on Park Bv N, north of Corydon Av)
 
·     West bound Roblin Blvd from Charleswood Pkwy to Oakdale Dr is closed from 6:00 am until noon
 
·     No Parking is permitted in the west bound lane on the south side of Portage Av from Woodhaven Blvd west to Douglas Park Blvd from 2:00 am to 2:00 pm on race day.
