Homicide Investigation – C14-90225
On May 4, 2014 at approximately 2:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of Main Street and Bannatyne Avenue regarding the report that a firearm discharge had taken place.
 
Patrol members quickly attended and determined that a group of males had been involved in a confrontation. It was also determined that one male in his twenties had already been transported to hospital.
 
The investigation has revealed that the male transported to hospital has since died from injuries consistent with being shot.
 
Members of the Homicide Unit have been notified and are in the early stages of their investigation.
 
An autopsy is pending and family notifications are on-going.
 
At this time, investigators are looking into the possibility that additional victims were involved.

Commercial Robbery C14-90070
On May 3, 2014 at approximately 10:40 p.m., two armed suspects entered a restaurant located in the 200 block of Henderson Highway and confronted staff.
 
The three employees present were not injured however an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.
 
The suspects are described as:

 

  • Male, Aboriginal in appearance, 6'00" tall, stocky build, long black hair and bushy eyebrows
  • Male, 5'6"- 5'8" tall, smaller build than suspect one

The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
