PERSON ROBBERY ARRESTS - C13-226797
On November 3, 2013 at approximately 11:30 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the area of Henderson Highway and Johnson Avenue West for the report of male having just been robbed.
 
Responding members including uniform officers and the Tactical Support Team quickly set up containment in and around the area.  With the assistance of the Canine unit four suspects were located and arrested without incident for their alleged involvement. 
 
The victim was not injured and the stolen property was recovered.
 
The investigation continued by members of the East District Crime Unit.
 
It was learned that the victim had been walking in the area when he was approached by the four suspects.  One of the suspects produced a weapon, demanded and received personal property from the victim.  The incident was witnessed by a bystander who contacted police.
 
Evan Levi Michael YOUNG 18 years & Michael Curtis THOMAS 20 years both of Winnipeg have been charged with Robbery with Weapon and were detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
Two 17 year old males from Winnipeg are facing a charge of Robbery with Weapon and were released via Promises to Appear.
 
 
RESIDENTIAL BREAK & ENTER ARRESTS – C13-226812
On November 4, 2013 shortly after 12:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to the 300 block of Polson Avenue for the report of a break & enter that had just occurred.
 
Information provided was that the home had been broken into and the victims' vehicle stolen.
 
Responding officers observed the stolen vehicle in the area of Main Street and Inkster Boulevard.  Upon observing police the suspects fled east bound down Inkster at a high rate of speed, ignoring stop signs along the way.  Upon reaching Scotia Street the driver was unable to negotiate a left hand turn, drove over a Transit sign and proceeded through a yard before coming to rest against a vehicle parked in a driveway.  The suspects exited the vehicle and fled north along the river prior to police arrival.
 
A small fire occurred under the front end of the stolen vehicle which was quickly extinguished by officers.
 
Members of AIR1 observed the suspects in the 100 block of Scotia Street and directed officers to their location.  Both suspects were located hiding within a veranda they had broken into and were taken into custody without incident.
 
The investigation continued by members of the District 3 Crime Unit.
 
Two males 12 & 15 years of age from Winnipeg are facing multiple charges including, among others, Break Enter & Commit – Dwelling House, Dangerous Operation – Motor Vehicle and Flight from police officer for their alleged involvement
 
Both were released via Promises to Appear.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY ARREST – C13-227376
On November 4, 2013 shortly after 7:30 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to a convenience store in the 800 block of Selkirk Avenue for the report of a commercial robbery.
 
Information provided was that a lone female had entered the store and while brandishing a weapon proceeded to steal various products after which she fled on foot.
 
Responding officers located the suspect in the area of Stella Avenue and McKenzie Street and took her into custody without incident.
 
Kaylene Kristina Autumn MAUD 19 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery and Fail to Comply with Condition Recognizance for her alleged involvement.
 
She was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
SUSPICIOUS DEATH – C13-227523
On November 4, 2013 at approximately 11:45 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 1st 100 block of Albert Street for the report of an injured male.
 
Responding members located at 42 year old male suffering injuries from an apparent fall.  He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit and several people are currently being interviewed.
