SERIOUS SEXUAL ASSAULT – ARREST   C13-188626
As previously released -On September 16, 2013 at approximately 12:54 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Sutherland Avenue regarding a serious sexual assault that occurred involving a 29 year-old female victim.
 
The investigation revealed that the victim had observed an unknown male following her while in the area of Main Street and Sutherland Avenue. The suspect eventually approached the victim asking for change. As she was retrieving change from her purse, the armed suspect grabbed the victim, threatened her, and forced her toward a nearby building. It was at this time a serious sexual assault occurred. Prior to the suspect fleeing, the victim was robbed of personal property.
 
The victim made her way to a nearby business and contacted police. The investigation continued by members of the Sex Crimes Unit.
 
The incident and physical descriptors of the suspect were previously made public.
 
On November 8, 2013 at approximately 2:50 p.m., Kirt Michael CAMERON, 41 years-old was located in the Transcona area of the city and arrested.
 
He has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
 
Sexual assault with a weapon
Armed Robbery
Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
Fail to comply with condition recognizance
 
He was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
