HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UPDATE – ARRESTS - C13-222903
As previously released - On October 30, 2013 at approximately 8:00 a.m., police and other emergency personnel responded to the 400 block of King Street to check on the well-being of an unresponsive male.
 
Jamie COOK, 23 years of Winnipeg was located deceased.
 
Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation and as a result 3 suspects were identified and arrested for their alleged involvement. 
 
It was learned that the victim and the 3 suspects had met up earlier in the evening and had gone to the residence of one of the suspects to socialize.  At some point the three accused became upset with the victim and proceeded to physically assault him about the body, causing the injuries that ultimately led to his death.
 
Lyle James Lester LETANDRE 19 years, Aaron Freedom Bluestar MEEKIS 27 years & Kelvin Edwin George ORVIS 27 years all of Winnipeg have each been charged with 2nd Degree Murder.
 
All three were detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
SERIOUS ASSAULT / HOMICIDE ARREST UPDATE - C13-226225
As previously released, on November 3, 2013 at approximately 1:30 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service and other emergency personnel responded to the 300 block of Bannerman Avenue regarding a serious assault involving a 23 year-old male victim.
 
Two males known to each other became involved in a physical altercation which resulted in the victim sustaining a serious injury.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation and a 26 year-old male was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault.
 
The victim, 23 year old Gary Nathan HOULE of Winnipeg has since succumbed to his injuries.
 
After consultation with the Crown, the accused Jerry Samuel William FRANCOIS of Winnipeg has now been charged with Manslaughter.
 
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY - C13-226736
On November 3, 2013 shortly after 9:30 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to a restaurant in the 1000 block of St James Street for the report of a commercial robbery.
 
Attending officers met with the 32 year old clerk who advised that a lone male with his identity concealed had entered the store and approached the counter.  The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of money after which he fled the store.
 
The clerk was not injured.
 
The suspect is described as: Caucasian male, 40-50 years of age with a medium build.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
