Weapons Arrest: C18-196274
On September 7, at approximately 11:35 a.m., Central District General Patrol members were in the area of Sargent Avenue and Langside Street when they observed a male known to them on a bicycle committing an infraction of the Highway Traffic Act.
The male immediately attempted to flee on the bike; however, officers gave chase on foot and located him in the 500 block of Furby Avenue. He was observed to have a knife and was taken into custody without incident.
A search of the male resulted in the seizure of a can of bear spray and 3.5 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $350).
Cory Jason Carvajal, a 33-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon (x2)
- Possession of Scheduled Substance Methamphetamine
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x3)
He was detained in custody.
Fire Investigation: C18-196859
On September 7, 2018, at approximately 11:00 p.m., emergency services responded to the report of a fire at a vacant residence in the 600 block of Manitoba Avenue.
AIR1 assisted with the fire by providing information from its thermal imaging/infrared camera at the request of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service.
The nature of the fire is suspicious at this time.

Assault with a Weapon Investigation: C18-196505
On September 7, 2018, at approximately 3:15 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of an incident involving a vehicle at a business in the area of Gateway Road and McLeod Avenue.
A male victim had come across his vehicle which had been previously stolen earlier in the week from the Rossmere area. The victim attempted to stop the driver of the stolen vehicle but was dragged and injured. He was transported to hospital in stable condition.
The stolen vehicle was later recovered by police. No arrests have been made at this time.
