Animal Cruelty – Public Assistance Requested: R18-57049
 
The Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit is requesting the public's assistance with locating Alex Arumeul Genaille, a 20-year-old male of Winnipeg.
 
 
He is described as Indigenous in appearance, 5'6" tall, weighing approximately 172 lbs and has a medium build. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
 
Genaille is wanted in connection to an incident during the evening of August 31, 2018, where a Bullmastiff dog was assaulted with a knife in the Lord Selkirk Park area.
 
At approximately 9:15 p.m., a group of individuals were observed walking and biking down a back lane on Stella Avenue. As they passed the dog in a yard, one of the individuals (a male on a bicycle) stopped and donned a mask. He then produced a knife and the dog suffered a serious facial injury. The male then re-joined the group down the back lane.
 
A warrant has been issued for Genaille for the following charges:
 
- Possession of a Weapon
- Causing Unnecessary Suffering to an Animal
- Disguise with Intent

Numerous Thefts – Arrests: E18-14212 & C18-199477
 
Members of the Winnipeg Police Service have recently arrested two individuals for frequent thefts at Liquor Marts.
 
Between February 14, 2018, and August 20, 2018, a male suspect attended various Liquor Mart locations around the city of the Winnipeg. The suspect would enter the store, select several liquor bottles and exit the store without making any attempt to pay.
 
On September 10, 2018, at approximately 6:22 p.m., North District Community Support Unit attended a residence in the 400 block of Alexander Avenue and placed a male under arrest.
 
Matthew James Swampy, an 18-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with numerous theft-related offences for his role in 52 theft incidents.
 
He was detained in custody.
 
Between March 19, 2018, and September 7, 2018, a male suspect attended various Liquor Mart locations around the city of the Winnipeg. The suspect would enter the store, select several liquor bottles and exit the store without making any attempt to pay.
 
On September 11, 2018, at approximately 12:25 a.m., North District Community Support Unit attended a residence in the 500 block of Mountain Avenue and placed a male under arrest.
 
David Norman Lee Ross, an 18-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with numerous theft-related offences for his role in 80 theft incidents.
 
He was detained in custody.
 
Sexual Assault – Arrest: R17-47547
 
In June 2017, members of the Sex Crimes Unit became involved in a historic sexual assault investigation.
 
It was reported that a female student, who was 19-years-old at the time, was enrolled in the Music Program in the University of Manitoba and was sexually assaulted on a number of occasions by her jazz professor. The incidents occurred between September 2014 and January 2017.  
 
On May 9, 2018, as a result of the on-going investigation, Steven Kirby, a 62-year-old male of Winnipeg, was arrested for Sexual Assault. He has been released on a Promise to Appear. 
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with further information regarding this investigation is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
