Animal Cruelty – Arrest: R18-57049

On September 11, 2018, the Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit requested the public's assistance with locating Alex Arumeul Genaille, a 20-year-old male of Winnipeg.

Genaille was wanted in connection to an incident during the evening of August 31, 2018, where a Bullmastiff dog was assaulted with a knife in the Lord Selkirk Park area.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., a group of individuals were observed walking and biking down a back lane on Stella Avenue. As they passed the dog in a yard, one of the individuals (a male on a bicycle) stopped and donned a mask. He then produced a knife and the dog suffered a serious facial injury. The male then re-joined the group down the back lane.

A warrant had been issued for Genaille for the following charges:

- Possession of a Weapon
- Causing Unnecessary Suffering to an Animal
- Disguise with Intent

On September 12, 2018, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Major Crime Unit investigators placed Genaille under arrest in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue after a short foot pursuit. Genaille is currently in custody and will be detained.

The Winnipeg Police Service would like to thank the public as their information helped us locate Genaille.
