Sexual Assault Arrest – C12-205908
During the early morning hours of October 12, 2012, officers responded to the area of the 600 block of Panet Road regarding a sexual assault incident involving a 58 year-old female victim.
 
The investigation has revealed that the victim attended to a house party on Panet Road when she went outside to have a cigarette. While outside, she was confronted by an unknown male at which time a serious sexual assault occurred.
 
The male suspect fled and the victim returned to the residence. Once the other occupants were alerted to what occurred; police were notified.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Sex Crimes Unit.
 
On June 13, 2014 at approximately 5:40 p.m., officers came into contact with the male suspect in the area of McDermot Avenue and Gertie Street. Due to the outstanding warrant in relation to the sexual assault, the male was arrested.
 
Desmond KOROMA, 32 years-old has been charged with Sexual Assault due to his alleged involvement.
 
He was remanded into custody.
 
 
Suspicious Male – C14-123646
On June 13, 2014 at approximately 12:45 p.m., a 14 year-old female was approached by an unknown male while in the area of the 1300 block of Jefferson Avenue.
 
The male made contact with the female, however no injuries were sustained. The victim fled and an adult was notified.
 
The suspect is described as: Male, East Indian in appearance, Late 40's – early 50's, medium/heavy build, long white beard, wearing a turban and white robe.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the District 3 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2848 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
Drug and Weapon Investigation Arrests – C14-125265
On June 15, 2014 at approximately 9:50 p.m., Division 11 Patrol members with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team attended to the 300 block of Cumberland Avenue for the purpose of executing a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant.
 
While on scene, four males were taken into custody, while a fifth male appears to have attempted to evade officers through a 9th floor suite window. As a result, the male fell 6 floors onto the 3rd floor parkade sustaining serious injuries. He is in stable condition.
 
As a result of the warrant and search of the suite, several guns, ammunition, drugs and cash were seized.
 
All five males, between 18-26 years of age are facing numerous drug and weapon related offences.  
 
They remain in custody.
