HOMICIDE – C14-71321
On April 9, 2014 shortly before 1:00 a.m. an adult female attended to the Victoria Hospital suffering from undisclosed injuries.  She has since succumbed to her injuries.
 
No further information is available at this time.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).


MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION INVOLVING PEDESTRIAN –
C14-69028

As previously released, on April 5, 2014 at approximately 5:30 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the Intersection of Donald Street and Broadway for the report of a motor vehicle collision.
 
Upon arrival a 23 year old female was located and transported to hospital in unstable condition and later downgraded to critical. 
 
The victim has since succumbed to her injuries.  Her name will not be released.
 
Initial investigation revealed that the victim had been crossing the eastbound lanes of Broadway at Donald Street when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle.
 
A 25 year old male was arrested at the scene and later released without charge pending further investigation.
 
Members of the Central Traffic Unit are continuing with the investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call investigators at 204-986-6271.
 
 
STABBING INVESTIGATION UPDATE – ARRESTS - C14-61520
As previously released, on March 26, 2014 at approximately 4:00 a.m., WPS and WFPS members responded to a business located in the 1300 block of Main Street regarding a stabbing incident involving multiple victims.
 
Upon arrival, three male victims were located and observed to have sustained injuries consistent with being stabbed. They are in stable condition.
 
The victims entered the business after sustaining their injuries at which time emergency services was notified. 
 
The investigation continued by members of the District 3 Crime Unit.  As a result two suspects were identified.
 
On April 8, 2014 shortly after 6:00 p.m. the two suspects were located with the assistance of the Street Crime Unit and arrested without incident in the 200 block of Cathedral Avenue for their alleged involvement.

Steven Raymond JOHNSTON 20 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon x 3 and Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.
 
Rae-Anne Mary Dawn PEEBLES 18 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Assault x 3 and court order related breaches.
 
Both were detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
ASSAULT POLICE OFFICER ARREST – C14-70864
On April 8, 2014 members of the Manitoba Integrated Warrant Apprehension Unit attended to the 100 block of McPhail Street to arrest a 38 year old male on the strength of two outstanding warrants.
 
The wanted male began to resist arrest which caused a dog within the residence to become aggressive.  As a result, one of the arresting members was bitten in the lower body causing injury that later required medical attention.
 
Once restrained, the male continued to resist and at one point kicked out, striking a second officer twice in the lower body.  The officer did not require medical attention.
 
Douglas Ocman Tristam POLON 38 years of Winnipeg was processed on the outstanding warrants for Aggravated Sexual Assault & Breach of Probation.  He was further charged with Assault a Peace Officer, Resist Peace Officer & Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 3
 
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
