MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION INVOLVING PEDESTRIAN – C14-69028
On April 5, 2014 at approximately 5:30 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the Intersection of Donald Street and Broadway for the report of a motor vehicle collision.
 
Upon arrival a 23 year old female was located and transported to hospital in unstable condition and later downgraded to critical.
 
Initial investigation has revealed that the victim had been crossing the eastbound lanes of Broadway at Donald Street when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle.
 
A 25 year old male was arrested at the scene and later released without charge pending further investigation.
 
Members of the Central Traffic Unit are continuing with the investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call investigators at 204-986-6271.

 

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY ARRESTS –C14-69491
On April 6, 2014 shortly after 11:00 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 600 block of Selkirk Avenue for the report of a person having been robbed by four male suspects.
 
Attending officers arrived to observe two of the suspects fleeing the area.  One of the suspects was immediately arrested while the other continued to run.  Canine members attended and were able to successfully track the suspect to the 600 block of Manitoba Avenue where he was taken into custody without incident.
 
Information was received that the other two suspects may have fled to a residence in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue.  Several units, including the Tactical Support Team attended and two residents were removed from the residence.  They were later found not to be involved in either incident.
 
Investigation revealed that the 24 year old victim had been approached by the four suspects, one armed with a firearm.  The suspects demanded property from the victim however fled after finding that he had none.  The victim was not injured.
 
A short time later the four suspects approached an 18 year old female, physically assaulting her during the robbery after which they fled after having not obtained any property.  The victim received non-life threatening injuries.
 
Two males, 16 & 18 years of age from Winnipeg have been charged with several robbery related offences and have been detained in custody.
 
The firearm used in the robberies was recovered.

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – C14-68447
On April 4, 2014 shortly before 9:30 p.m. members Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to a restaurant in the 2300 block of Ness Avenue for the report of a commercial robbery.
 
Responding officers met with a 19 year old employee who advised that a lone armed male had attended to the counter, demanded and received an undisclosed amount of money after which he fled the store.  The clerk was not injured.
 
The suspect is described as: Caucasian, late 20s to early 30s, approximately 5'10' tall.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.  Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – C14-69390
On April 6, 2014 shortly after 5:30 a.m. members Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to a restaurant in the 2400 block of Portage Avenue for the report of a commercial robbery.
 
Responding officers met with a 17 year old employee who advised that a lone armed male had attended to the counter demanding that she open the till.  The suspect then proceeded to steal an undisclosed amount of money after which he fled the store.  The clerk was not injured.
 
The suspect is described as: Aboriginal in appearance, 25 to 30 years, approximately 5'10' tall with a medium build, scruffy facial hair, thick / bushy eyebrows and a tattoo on the left side of his face as well as on both hands.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.  Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
