COMMERCIAL BREAK-IN ARREST INVOLVING AIR1   C14-72662
On April 10, 2014 at approximately 6:30 p.m., a lone male suspect broke into a closed business located on Hangar Line.
 
Once inside, the suspect proceeded to force entry into a clothing locker and remove its contents. The suspect then armed himself with an object resembling a baseball bat and began causing extensive property damage in excess of $5000.00.
 
The aggressive male was eventually observed and cornered by staff at which time police were notified.
 
Air1, while in the vicinity of the James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, responded to the break-in in progress. Members of the Flight Operations Unit safely landed Air1 and proceeded to the facility where the male suspect was last reported. The male was taken into custody by Air1 officers and later turned over to Patrol members for further processing.
 
Darrell MARTENS, 27 years-oldhas been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
 
Break Enter & Theft
Mischief over $5000.00
 
He was remanded into custody.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY   C14-73316
On April 11, 2014 at approximately 7:20 p.m., four suspects robbed a convenience store located in the 800 block of Mountain Avenue.
 
The suspects entered the business while concealing their identity and confronted staff. A 51 year-old male was stabbed and the business was robbed of lottery, tobacco and cash.
 
A 62 year-old male customer was also assaulted during the incident.
 
The victims are in stable condition.
 
The suspects are described as: Males, in their twenties
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).   
 
 
UPDATE - SHOTS FIRED - MALE ARRESTED   C14-70183
As previously released, on April 7, 2014 shortly after 2:00 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 600 block of Manitoba Avenue for the report of sounds of shots.

Upon arrival a male youth was located suffering from wounds consistent with having been the result of a firearm discharge.  He was transported to hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to stable.

The investigation revealed the 17 year old victim and another male had been within the residence when two male suspects forced entry.  When the victims attempted to flee, one of the suspects discharged a firearm, striking the victim once in the upper body.  The second male was not injured.  The suspects then fled the scene.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation and arrested Jordan Joseph OWEN, 20 years of Winnipeg on April 7th for his alleged involvement.  The second suspect was identified as Michael Langford Conrad KELLY, 19 years of Winnipeg. A warrant of arrest was issuedfor KELLY and public assistance was requested.

On April 11th at approximately 4:20 p.m., KELLY was located at a suite on Manitoba Avenue and arrested.

He has been charged with numerous offences due to his alleged involvement, some of which include: Attempt to Commit Murder and several other firearm related offences.

 He remains in custody.
