STABBING INVESTIGATION- PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUIRED C14-61520

As previously released, on March 26, 2014 at approximately 4:00 a.m., WPS and WFPS members responded to a business located in the 1300 block of Main Street regarding a stabbing incident involving multiple victims.
 
Upon arrival, officers located two male victims, 25 and 29 years, who had sustained upper-body injuries consistent with being stabbed.  A third victim, a 26-year-old male, was located in the area of Machray Avenue and Charles Street with stab wounds to his upper body.
 
The victims were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Members of the Division 13 Crime Unit have identified two suspects wanted in connection with this incident. As all attempts to locate the suspects have met with negative results; the Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating the following individuals:
 
Steven Raymond JOHNSTON, 20 yrs         Rae-Anne Mary PEEBLES, 18 yrs
 
                                      
 
An arrest warrant for JOHNSTON has been obtained for charges of Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon, while PEEBLES is currently wanted on an unrelated warrant to arrest for Fail to Comply with Probation Order.   
 
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects is asked to contact investigators from the Division 13 Crime Unit at 204-986-2848 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477). 
 
 
SHOTS FIRED- UPDATE- ARRESTS C14-65916
As previously released, on April 1, 2014 shortly after 4:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to a residence within the 500 block of Seven Oaks Avenue for reports of shots being fired.  A Sport Utility Vehicle was seen fleeing the area.
 
Upon arrival, officers located property damage consistent with a firearm being discharged.
 
There were no reported injuries.
 
At approximately 4:15 a.m. Division 11 Uniform Officers observed a Ford Explorer in the area of Portage Avenue and Vaughan Street.  As the police unit approached, the truck immediately fled at a high rate of speed.  Police units pursued the suspect vehicle as it travelled towards the city's south end.  Once in the area of Bairdmore Boulevard and Beaufort Cresent, the vehicle crashed into a snow bank and two suspect males fled. 
 
A foot pursuit ensued with a canine unit and uniform members resulting in both suspects being taken into custody.  The two adult males were then conveyed to the hospital in stable condition, prior to being transported to the Public Safety Building.
 
As a result of the continued investigation by members of the Major Crimes Unit, Tamim AHMADZAI, 18 years of Winnipeg and Hamed SHAHNAWAZ, 24 years of Winnipeg have been arrested for their alleged involvement in these incidents. 
  
AHMADZAI and SHAHNAWAZ have both been charged with numerous firearms-related offences.  AHMADZAI has also been charged with Flight while pursed by a Peace Officer.
 
They have been detained in custody.
 
 
HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION C14-66174
On April 1, 2014 shortly before 3:00 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were summoned to an apartment building within the 400 block of Elgin Avenue after a deceased male was discovered. 
 
Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male within the suite.
 
An autopsy is pending and a cause of death has yet to be determined.
