Homicide Investigation Update - Arrest - C14-73969
As previously released, on April 12, 2014 shortly after 5:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service received information indicating that a male had been shot, requiring officers and other emergency personnel to respond to the 400 block of Pacific Avenue.
 
Attending members located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  He was transported from the scene in critical condition, however he was later pronounced deceased in hospital.
 
The deceased was previously identified as: Geoffrey Oliver REID, 27 years-old of Winnipeg.

Members of the Homicide Unit were notified and continued to investigate.
 
Investigation has revealed that the victim attended to the suspect's residence on Alexander Street for unknown reasons.  A physical altercation occurred within the residence during whichthe suspect produced a firearm and fired a single shot, striking the victim.  The victim was able to flee on foot and made his way to the 400 block of Pacific Avenue where he was located.
 
On April 16, 2014 shortly before 11:00 a.m. investigators located and arrested the suspect in the downtown area.
 
Tristan Stewart BRADBURN 21 years of Winnipeg has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Fail to Comply with Probation Order for his alleged involvement.
 
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 

Residential Fire – C14-76863
On April 17, 2014 shortly before 1:30 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 500 block of Langside Street for the report of a residential fire.
 
With the assistance of Winnipeg Fire Paramedic personnel the lone male occupant was able to escape without injury.
 
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is considered suspicious.  Damage is estimated at $70,000.00.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit and the Arson Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6813 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
