Financial Robbery Update – Arrest - C14-66689
Since April 2, 2014 the Winnipeg Police Service has responded to the report of 5 financial robberies in the downtown area.  They include:

  • April 2 – 200 block of Portage Avenue
  • April 8 – 300 block of Portage Avenue
  • April 11 – 600 block of Broadway
  • April 14 – 600 block of Broadway
  • April 17 – 200 block of Portage Avenue

In each incident a lone male, with his identity concealed, approached a teller and produced a note demanding money.  An undisclosed amount of money was obtained in all five incidents.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit and as a result a suspect was identified.
 
On April 17 at approximately 10:30 p.m. the suspect was located and arrested in the downtown area for his alleged involvement.
 
Armand James DUBOIS 38 years of Winnipeg has been charged with
Robbery x 5 and Disguise with Intent x 5.  He was also processed on an outstanding Canada Wide Warrant of Apprehension and Suspension.
 
DUBOIS was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
Residential Fire Update - Arrest – C14-76863
As previously released, on April 17, 2014, shortly before 1:30 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 500 block of Langside Street for the report of a residential fire.
 
With the assistance of Winnipeg Fire Paramedic personnel the lone male occupant was able to escape without injury.
 
Damage was estimated at $70,000.00.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit and the Arson Unit.
 
As a result of the investigation, Division 11 Crime Unit members arrested the male occupant located at the scene.
 
Gaelan Campbell Seames MELVIN 26 years has been charged with Arson Causing Damage to Property for his alleged involvement.
 
MELVIN was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
