Winnipeg Police Service News Release

ORGANIZED CRIME INVESTIGATION- PROJECT FLATLINED
In May 2011, the Winnipeg Police Service Organized Crime Unit initiated an investigation into the criminal activity of a specific cell within the Manitoba chapter of the Hells Angels and the Redlined puppet club. As a result of the investigation, Project Flatlined was commenced in September 2011.
 
Between September 3rd, 2011 and February 29th, 2012 members of the Winnipeg Police Service, with assistance of the Integrated Proceeds of Crime Unit, utilized numerous techniques to gather evidence supporting various charges including;
 
-          Trafficking narcotics
-          Possession of proceeds of crime
-          Laundering proceeds of crime &
-          Participation in an Criminal Organization
 
Commencing at 7:00 this morning, over 150 police officers conducted a large scale operation to conduct search warrants and arrest offenders.
 
Six search warrants were executed and 11 persons were taken into custody on strength of arrest warrants. 
 
The following individuals have been arrested:
Dale Jason SWEENEY, 41 years Manitoba Hells Angels, current president
Brendin Kyle WALL, 24 years              patch member of Redlined
Kurtis Donald SCOTT, 40 years           Hells Angels associate
Thomas Clinton BARNECKI, 31 years    Redlined associate
Jonathon STEWART, 31 years              Redlined associate
Donovan Michael LAFRANCE, 27years  Redlined prospect member
Christopher Allan GERULA, 34 years     Hells Angels associate
 
 
Two additional Hells Angels members have been arrested and will appear before a judge to enter into a recognizance to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to abide by other reasonable conditions.
 
Rodney Patrick Sweeney, 43 years         patch member of Hells Angels
Carmine Puteri, 39 years                        patch member of Hells Angels
 
 
Additional Arrest warrants have been obtained and further arrests will be made in the following weeks.
 
Search warrants were executed at the following locations:
 
- 100 block of Autumnview Drive   
- 300 block of Edison Avenue
- 900 block of Norwich Avenue                  
- 800 block of Government Avenue           
- An auto-parts business within the 1000 block of Redonda Street                
- 200 block of Fairhaven Road       
 
Seizures:
 
During the course of the investigation, a quantity of cash and narcotics were seized.
 
Some properties and investments belonging to accused persons have been restrained by the courts as they are deemed to be proceeds of crime or offence related property.
 
 
FIGHT INVESTIGATION- UPDATE                 C12-46710
As previously, on March 15th, 2012 shortly after 1:00 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members responded to a report of a large fight outside a school within the 100 block of Kingsway.
 
Upon arrival officers located a number of individuals that had sustained injuries and received information that the suspects had fled the area in a vehicle.  
 
Paramedics attended and transported four male victims, two 16 year olds, a 17 year old and an 18 year old, to the hospital in stable condition. A 14 year old male victim had been transported to the hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.
 
Responding police units observed the suspect vehicle parked in the area of Scotland Avenue and Lilac Street. Three male occupants from the vehicle were taken into custody without incident.
 
The investigation has revealed that a group of males armed with weapons attended to the 100 block of Kingsway and encountered a second group of males. A fight erupted, which is believed to have stemmed from an on-going dispute, between the two groups.     
 
Various vehicles with in the area sustained damage. 
 
At this time, no formal charges have been laid.
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Division 16 Crime Unit.
