Winnipeg Police Service News Release

 

Monday, March 5th, 2012

11:00 a.m.
 
 
COMMERICAL ROBBERY- ARREST  C12-39546
On March 4th, 2012 at approximately 1:40 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were called to a gas station within the 200 block of Sherbrook Street for a report of a male that was seen with a firearm. 
 
Upon arrival officers met with the 22 year old male clerk and learned that the suspect was outside the business when he pointed a firearm at the clerk. The suspect then immediately fled the area and police were notified. 
 
No shots were fired and there were no injuries.  
 
Then at approximately 3:45 a.m. a male was a passenger within a taxi cab. This cab stopped in the area of Broadway Avenue and Young Street, when the male fare within the cab pointed a firearm at the 42 year old male driver. A brief struggle ensued between the suspect male and the driver causing a minor injury victim's upper body. 
 
The suspect demanded money from the victim to which the victim complied.  The suspect fled the scene and police were contacted. 
 
A number of patrolling units attended to the area. A track initiated by a canine unit lead officers to a nearby suite within the area, where the suspect male was taken into custody without incident. 
 
Terrance Jamie TRAVERSE, 28 years of Winnipeg has been charged with with a number of firearms related offences for his alleged involvement in this incident, including robbery with a firearm, two counts of point firearm and breach of probation.   
 
TRAVERSE has been detained in custody. 
 
COMMERICAL ROBBERY       C12-40098
On March 5th, 2012 at approximately 3:25 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service East District Members were dispatched to a convenience store with the 1800 block of Henderson Highway for a report of two suspect males that had just robbed the store.
 
Upon arrival officers met with the 34 year old male clerk who was not injured. The investigation has revealed that two males entered the store and after a short period of time, one of the suspects produced a knife and proceeded to gather cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash. 
 
 
Both suspects fled the store and police were notified.
 
The suspects are described as:
 
Suspect #1:
-       Male, Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 26 years of age, 5'6" tall wearing a black jacket, black pants and a hat
 
Suspect #2:
-       Male, Aboriginal in appearance, 19 to 20 year of age wearing a black hoody, blue jeans and a hat
