AGGRAVATED ASSAULT – ARREST C12-48265
On March 17, 2012, at approximately 2:25 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Semple Avenue regarding a fight in progress.
 
Attending members discovered that several people were in attendance at a drinking party, when two males became involved in an argument. The dispute escalated when a 33 year old male and 28 year old male became involved in a physical confrontation. The fight, which began inside the home, eventually continued out onto the front yard.
 
The confrontation came to an end when the 28 year old returned to the residence. It was at this time the 33 year old followed, now armed with a knife. Approaching the 28 year old victim from behind, the 33 year old proceeded to stab him to the upper body and subsequently flee the area.
 
Paramedics conveyed the victim to hospital in critical condition. He was eventually upgraded to stable condition.
 
Officers located the fleeing suspect in the area of Main Street and Burrin Avenue where he was place under arrest. Upon his arrest, the suspect spit at an arresting officer.
 
Members of the District 3 Crime Unit continued to investigate.
 
Jason Joseph MOAR, 33 years has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
 
·        Assault
·        Aggravated Assault
·        Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
·        Assault Peace Officer
 
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
  
 
ASSAULT CAUSE BODILY HARM – ARREST C12-48817
During the early morning hours on March 18, 2012, several individuals known to one another were socializing within a suite located in the 100 block of Powers Street.
 
The investigation has revealed that all parties were consuming alcohol when a 31 year old female, 36 year old male and his 25 year old girlfriend left the suite and entered the building elevator. A dispute erupted between the 36 year old male and 31 year old female causing the male to become enraged. It was at this time the 36 year old began seriously assaulting the 31 year old repeatedly to the upper body.
 
The male suspect eventually got off the elevator leaving the victim behind. The victim made her way home where she collapsed.
 
Emergency services responded to the 300 block of Flora Avenue where the victim was located suffering from serious upper body injuries. She was conveyed to hospital in stable condition.
 
At approximately 3:40 a.m., officers attended to the 100 block of Powers Street where the suspect was located and placed under arrest.
 
The 36 year old male is facing the following charges:
 
·        Assault Cause Bodily Harm
·        Breach of Probation
 
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
ARSON – ARRESTS C12-48693
On March 18, 2012, at approximately 12:45 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the 2200 block of Portage Avenue regarding a fire incident.
 
Initial information suggested that a mattress had been set on fire in a back lane where three youths were observed fleeing the area.
 
Officers observed members of the Winnipeg Fire Department extinguish the fire which consisted of a mattress and hydro pole.
 
Patrolling members located three male youth suspects in the area at which time they were taken into custody. The investigation continued when officers discovered that the youths were also in possession of stolen property.
 
Members of the Arson Strike Force were notified and continue to investigate.
 
A 15 year old male and two 14 year old males are facing: Arson and Theft related charges.
 
The investigation is ongoing.
