HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION – ARREST C11-237836
As previously released, on November 12, 2011, at approximately 2:10 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a working fire at a building located in the 300 block of Carlton Street.
 
Emergency crews located an adult male later identified as: Harry Wellington GEGWETCH, 42 years of age within the building suffering from upper body injuries. The male was conveyed to hospital in critical condition but has since succumbed to injuries sustained.
 
Members of the Homicide Unit and Arson Strike Force continued to investigate. On November 18, 2011, at approximately 2:50 p.m., Darrell Walter LONGCLAWS, 32 years of age was arrested and charged with Manslaughter due to his alleged involvement.

SHOTS C11-243622
On November 21, 2011, at approximately 12:50 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence located in the first 100 block of Boundary Bay regarding a firearm discharge.
 
Attending member's located damage to the residence however no injuries were reported. It was determined that 3 adults were asleep within the home when the sound of shots could be heard. After further examination, the occupants observed damage to the front door of the home consistent with a firearm discharge.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477). 
 
 
RESIDENTIAL ROBBERY C11-243636
On November 21, 2011, at approximately 1:50 a.m., Uniform members responded to a residence in the first 100 block of Rue Des Meurons regarding a residential robbery incident involving 3 suspects.
 
The investigation has revealed that armed suspects entered the home through an unlocked door and confronted a 43 year old female resident. As a result of an altercation, the victim sustained injuries to her upper body.
 
A second occupant of the home, a 48 year old male, conveyed the victim to hospital and notified police. A third occupant was not involved in the incident.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
