Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

Thursday, November 17th, 2011   CHRISTMAS TOY DRIVE FOR INNER-CITY AND LESSER PRIVILEGED KIDS The Winnipeg Police Service is pleased to partner with the Indian & Métis Friendship Centre Inc. (IMFC) in a "Christmas Toy Drive" for Inner-city and lesser privileged kids.    For several years the IMFC has organized and hosted a "Community Christmas Party" for Inner-City and lesser privileged children. This year the party will held on December 17th, 2011 between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., at the Indian & Métis Friendship Centre, 45 Robinson Street; and there is a need for new and unwrapped gifts to be donated.   While the party is located in the North End, and many of the North End's children will be recipients; there will be 500 to 700 children from the ages of infant to 12 years old that will come from across our city to partake in the "Spirit of the Season" at this year's event. The kids watch movies, participate in crafts, enjoy a healthy dinner with their family, and of course, visit with Santa Claus.   This year the Winnipeg Police Service has agreed to aid in this worthy cause, through the use of our Service Centres as drop-off depots for new & un-wrapped children's toys.    We all know the importance of an event of this nature.
