Winnipeg Police Service News Release

The Winnipeg Police Service Vice Unit and Missing Persons Unit, working with a community partner, Street Reach Winnipeg, which includes organizations such as the Child Protection Branch, MaMaWi Chi Itata Centre, Child and Family Services All Nations Coordinated Response Network (ANCR), MaryMound Inc. and Manitoba Association for Residential Treatment Resources (MARTR), initiated a joint project to target youth at high risk of being sexually exploited or victimized in our city.
 
On the evening of November 3rd, 2011, Winnipeg Police Service Members and our partners, proactively addressed these issues surrounding the sex trade and our at risk youth. 
 
Five males were arrested for communicating for the purpose of engaging in prostitution. One male faced additional charges of trafficking a controlled substance (cocaine), possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possessing proceeds of crime. 
 
38 addresses were checked for missing youth and 7 at risk youth were each transported to a place of safety.  Further, one youth was arrested on the strength of an outstanding Warrant.  
 
Our commitment to issues surrounding the sex trade and our missing youth will continue. 
 
 
RESIDENTIAL BREAK AND ENTER- ARREST    C11-231365
On November 3rd, 2011 shortly after 4:00 a.m. Division 13 patrolling officers received reports of a possible break and enter at a residence within the 200 block of Aberdeen Avenue. Upon arrival officers confirmed entry to a residence had been gained.    
 
Air1 arrived on scene and observed a lone suspect leaving the residence of the break in.  In a coordinated effort, ground unit members were directed to the 300 block of Redwood Avenue and a suspect male was taken into custody without incident within the 300 block of Redwood Avenue. 
 
A 56 year old male will be facing one count of break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit and indictable offence. He has been released on a promise to appear. 
 
 
COMMERICAL BREAK AND ENTER- ARREST     C11-234175
On November 5th, 2011 just after 2:00 a.m. Division 13 Uniform Members responded to a report of a break and enter that had just occurred to a school located in the 400 block of Church Avenue.
Upon arrival, a canine unit discovered a damaged exterior door and confirmed the break in.  Air 1 attended and observed a suspect leaving the school area, with officers on the ground directed to the suspect's whereabouts. As a result of the efforts of officers, a suspect male was located in a nearby park area and taken into custody. 
 
The continued investigation revealed that the school sustained damages in excess of $6000. Electronics valued at approximately $6500, which included computers and projectors, were recovered within the school. 
 
Marc Norman JEANSON 22 years of Winnipeg is facing the following charges for his alleged involvement in this incident: 
 
- Fail to comply conditions of a recognizance x3
- Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence
- Mischief over $5,000
- Theft Over and,
- an outstanding warrant to arrest (fail to comply condition recognizance).
 
JEANSON has been detained in custody.
