Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

 

  Saturday, November 5th, 2011 

 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C11-232634
On November 4th, 2011, at approximately 9:30 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a commercial robbery at a restaurant located in the 1400 block of Main Street.
 
Initial information indicated that a lone male suspect entered the business while armed with a knife. No one was injured however, the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
 
Attending members spoke with a 50 year old female employee who related that the suspect attended to the front counter of the restaurant and began placing an order for food. It was at this time the suspect produced a knife and pointed it in the direction of the victim. The suspect obtained cash and eventually walked out of the business.
 
The victim advised another employee of what had taken place and police were summoned.
 
The suspect is described as: Male, Caucasian, in his 40's, short dark brown hair with a medium build.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477). 
  
 
FIRE C11-232890
On November 5th, 2011, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Uniform Patrol members responded to a fire event at a business located in the 400 block of Graham Avenue.
 
Upon arrival, officers observed a working fire which was now under control due to the efforts of other emergency personnel.
 
At this time, damage is estimated at $150,000.00.
 
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Members of the Arson Strike Force are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 986-6813 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
