WINNIPEG POLICE CELEBRITY SLOW PITCH CHALLENGE
The Winnipeg Police All-Stars Slow Pitch Team will be facing the CFL Alumni All-Stars in a charity softball game Tuesday, July 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Shaw Park (Home of the Goldeyes).
 
Funds raised support KidSport Manitoba, a national charity designed to help underprivileged kids participate in sports by removing the barriers of cost and equipment. This year marks the 20th anniversary for the annual event which has raised more than $80,000 for this worthy cause.
 
This year's game promises to be bigger and better than ever before! Gates open at 5:15 p.m. followed by a free on-field Football Skills Clinic for the kids & autograph session between 5:30 p.m. & 6:30 p.m. (no equipment required). Current Bombers Doug Brown, Kelly Butler, Brendon LaBatt, and others will be participating.
 
Players participating in the session and game include Hall of famers Terry Evanshen, Willard Reaves, Willie Pless, and former Winnipeg Jets Jimmy Mann, Thomas Steen, and several others.
 
The event will include interactive sports displays, prize giveaways, contests, a 50/50 draw, between-inning entertainment such as a candy scramble for the kids, the WPS Pipe Band, the Bomber's Blue Lightning Dance Team, WPS mascot Copper, and several other mascots including the Bombers Buzz and Boomer. 
 
WPS support units participating include K-9, Mounted Patrol, and Community Relations.
Tickets are available at the gate as of 5:15 PM on game day.  Tickets will not be available at the Goldeyes box office. Tickets are $15, family packs are $45. Entry for children under 2 is free.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service will also have free game tickets available at the following Service Centers:
1086 St. Marys Road (open 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.)
Public Safety Building, 151 Princess Street (open 24 hours)
Approximately 500 free tickets will be given out at each location with a limit of 4 per person, on a first come first serve basis.
