Winnipeg Police Service News Release

Sunday, July 31st, 2011 10:00 a.m.      SERIOUS ASSAULT INVESTIGATION        C11-159689 On Saturday, July 30th, 2011 at approximately 11:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members responded to an apartment within the 300 block of Kennedy Street for a report of an injured male.    Upon arrival, officers and emergency services responders located an adult male within a suite who appeared to have been assaulted.    Paramedics transported the 27 year old victim to the hospital in critical condition, where he remains.   This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.  Interviews are being conducted at this time.      Further information will be provided as it becomes available.      For further information contact either: Constable Natalie Aitken, Public Information Officer Constable Jason Michalyshen, Public Information Officer Office: (204)986-3061 Fax: (204) 986-3267 Email: WPS-PIO@Winnipeg.ca   Web: www.winnipeg.ca/Police
