Saturday, July 16th, 2011 FATAL FIRE C11-148499 On July 16th, 2011 at approximately 2:00 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a working fire at a residence located in the 200 block of Austin Street North. The fire has since been extinguished and six adults were conveyed to hospital in critical condition. Four have since succumbed to injuries sustained and two remain in critical condition. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Members of the Homicide Unit with the assistance of the Arson Strike Force are continuing to investigate. The investigation is in its early stages and limited information is available at this time. FIRE C11-148561 On July 16th, 2011 at approximately 4:00 a.m., uniform members including other emergency personnel responded to a fire at a residence located in the 400 block of Young Street. The investigation has revealed that the front area of the residence was set on fire causing approximately $29,000.00 damage. No one was injured as a result of the incident. No arrests have been made. The investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-6813 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477). MALE SHOT C11-148414 On July 16th, 2011 at approximately 12:15 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a gun related incident in the area of the 400 block of Magnus Avenue. A male was located with an injury consistent with being shot and conveyed to hospital in stable condition. No arrests have been made at this time. Members of the Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate.
