Winnipeg Police Service News Release

CONSTRUCTION ZONE- SPEED ENFORCEMENT IN EFFECT
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to advise the members of the public, that as early as July 19th, 2011, mobile photo enforcement may be utilized to enforce the permanently reduced speed zone in a Lagimodiere Boulevard construction zone.
 
The zone is located on Lagimodiere Boulevard south of Warde Avenue and north of Highway 100 (Perimeter Highway).  This zone has been signed permanently and reduced to 60 km/h for the duration of the construction.
 
Please use caution when travelling near construction zones and as always, the Winnipeg Police Service encourages all motorists to Just Slow Down.  
 
 
ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON- ARREST     R11-67246
On July 16th, 2011 at approximately 3:45 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Members were in attendance at a Winnipeg hospital with an adult male whom had been arrested and was obtaining medical attention.  While in attendance officers observed an adult female, whom they believed to be a medical professional approach the 25 year old male and attempted to administer an unknown substance. 
 
Officers became suspicious of the actions of this female and summoned another nearby medical staff member.  The employee confirmed that the female suspect speaking with the male victim was an employee of the hospital, however was not a medical staff member.  Officers immediately took the female into custody.   
 
The initial investigation to this point has revealed that substances provided to the male victim did not cause any ill effects.   
 
Teresa SAWATZKY, 41 years of Winnipeg has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon for her alleged involvement into this incident. 
 
She has been detained in the custody.
