Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

ARSON - ARRESTS C11-145991
On July 13th, 2011 at approximately 4:30 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a fire related incident at a business located in the 100 block of Osborne Street.
 
The investigation has revealed that two male suspects threw flammable material at the front of the business causing approximately $2000.00 damage. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
 
Due to the efforts of the Organized Crime Unit, with the assistance of the Drug and Morals Unit, Street Crimes Unit, Community Support Unit, Tactical Support Team, Arson Strike Force and Uniform Patrol members, two male suspects were located in the area and taken into custody.
 
Taylor Brett MORRISON, 23 years has been charged with the following offences as a result of his alleged involvement: Arson – damage to property, Possession incendiary material and Possession of explosive substance etc… while prohibited. 
 
Shaine Gerald STODGELL, 33 years has been charged with the following offences as a result of his alleged involvement: Arson – damage to property and Possession incendiary material.
 
STODGELL has also been charged with: Arson – damage to property due to an incident which occurred on July 10th, 2011 at a business located in the 200 block of St Mary's Road.
 
Both have been detained.
 
ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON – ARRESTS C11-146770
On July 13th, 2011 at approximately 11:00 p.m., uniform members responded to the area of the 700 block of Main Street regarding a stabbing incident.
 
The investigation has revealed that a 38 year old female and 55 year old female met a 54 year old male for the first time and began socializing at a hotel on Main Street. They remained together and attended to another hotel in the area. At one point during the evening, the 38 year old female and 54 year old male became involved in a verbal argument. The dispute escalated into a physical confrontation at which time both females stabbed the male several times about the body.    
 
Emergency services were notified and attended the area. The male victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition but later upgraded to stable condition.
 
Due to the efforts of Uniform Patrol members and the Canine Unit both females were located in the area and placed under arrest.
 
The investigation continued by members of the District 3 Crime Unit.
 
Agnes Rose BEAR, 55 years has been charged with: Aggravated Assault and Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose as a result of her alleged involvement.
 
Rachel Frances STOVE, 38 years has been charged with: Aggravated Assault and Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 2 as a result of her alleged involvement.
 
They have been detained.
 
 
ROBBERY – ARREST C11-146555
Between July 12th and July 13th, 2011 members of the Winnipeg Police Service entered into an investigation involving four robbery incidents which had occurred in the William Whyte area of the city.
 
It has been determined that several male youths had confronted four different victims while armed with a weapon and demanded their property. As a result of the incidents, the suspect(s) made off with a cellular phone, wallet and jewellery. No one was injured.
 
On July 13th, 2011 at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a similar incident in the area of Main Street and Pritchard Avenue while the suspect was observed fleeing the area on a bike. Uniform Patrol members including members of the Canine Unit pursued the suspect and arrested him in the area of the 200 block of Burrows Avenue.
 
A 16 year old male has been charged with: Robbery with a Weapon x 4.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the District 3 Crime Unit.
