Winnipeg Police Service News Release

Monday, January 3rd, 2011   MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION- UPDATE                C11-1596 On Monday, January 3rd, 2011 at approximately 6:30 a.m. Members of the Winnipeg Police Service, along with Emergency Service Responders, attended to the intersection of Sargent Avenue and King Edward Street for a report of motor vehicle collision that had occurred.    The initial investigation has revealed that a collision occurred between a taxi cab that was travelling southbound on King Edward Street and a vehicle that was proceeding eastbound on Sargent Avenue.    The 57 year old male driver of the taxi cab had been transported to the hospital in critical condition.  He has since been upgraded to stable condition.  A 24 year old male passenger of the cab and the 21 year old male driver of the second vehicle were also conveyed to hospital in stable condition.     This investigation is continuing by Members of the Central Traffic Unit and anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to contact them 986-6271.     For further information contact either: Constable Natalie Aitken, Public Information Officer Constable Jason Michalyshen, Public Information Officer Office: (204)986-3061 Fax: (204) 986-3267 Email: WPS-PIO@Winnipeg.ca   Web: www.winnipeg.ca/Police
