Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION – ARREST C11-4355
As previously released, on Thursday, January 6th, 2011, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a call for service indicating that an assault had occurred at an apartment complex in the 200 block of Dufferin Avenue. 
 
Upon arrival, Officers and Emergency Services Personnel located an adult male in need of medical attention. Darryl John SINCLAIR, 45 years was transported to the hospital in critical condition and has since succumbed to his injuries.
 
An autopsy has revealed that the cause of death was as a result of an upper body stab wound.  
 
Members of the Homicide Unit have charged Robert Carl PRINCE, 44 years with Second Degree Murder as a result of his alleged involvement. He remains in custody.  
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY - ARREST C11-5162
On January 8th, 2011 at approximately 3:20 a.m., Officers responded to a commercial robbery at a convenience store located in the 400 block of Academy Road.
 
The investigation has revealed that a lone male suspect concealing his identity entered the business while armed with a metal bar. The suspect confronted a 44 year old male employee while making demands. The victim complied and the suspect fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.
 
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
 
Due to the efforts of Uniform members, specifically a successful track by the Canine Unit, the suspect was located in the area of the 800 block of Wellington Crescent.
 
A 34 year old male was arrested and is now facing charges which include: Robbery with a Weapon, Disguise with Intent, Possess Goods Obtained by Crime, including an outstanding warrant.
 
It has also been determined that that suspect initially arrived at the convenience store while in possession of a stolen vehicle. 
 
Officers recovered the stolen property. The accused remains in police custody.
