UPDATE - UTTER THREATS INVESTIGATION C12-187850
As previously released, on September 17, 2012, Uniform Patrol members responded to a residence in the St. James area of the city regarding a complaint involving a 41 year old male and his guide dog.

The investigation had revealed that the victim and his guide dog were waiting in the area of Portage Avenue and Spence Street at approximately 8:00 a.m. when an unknown male approached them. The suspect began distracting the victim's dog at which time he was asked to stop. The suspect continued with this behaviour and eventually threatened to seriously harm both the victim and his dog.

The victim caught a bus travelling to the Polo Park area at which time the suspect followed. The suspect continued to threaten the victim and his dog while on the bus despite several passengers attempting to intervene.

The victim eventually exited the bus and safely made his way to his destination and notified police.

As a result of the investigation, officers located surveillance photos of the suspect. Despite on-going efforts by WPS members, attempts to identify the suspect were unsuccessful. The surveillance photos were released to the media and members of the public were requested to assist in identifying the suspect.

The suspect in this matter has been identified and interviewed. The file has been completed and submitted for Crown opinion.

The victim, along with the Winnipeg Police Service would like to take this opportunity to thank the media and public for their assistance and support in this matter.
